About Us

Mitzi BaldwinPorchlight Property Management is locally owned and operated here in Whatcom County. We are a husband and wife team, committed to serving you. We understand the obstacles related to property management, including long-distance issues and tenant relations. We intend to keep our business small, so that we can stay personally involved and provide better service. Periodically, we will visit tenants to personally collect rents, allowing us to keep an eye on the property (in addition to routine physical inspections). This provides tenants with knowledge of who we are, and of our consistent presence. By forming a relationship with tenants, we become aware of tenants’ personal issues and neighborhood concerns, and gain their trust and communication. They like working with us, and this results in reduced vacancies, and as an added benefit tenants are more likely to take better care of your property. As property managers, we are third party to the property, so there is no emotional attachment, nor do we take conflicts personally. Our goal is to take care of your property and keep it equitably intact. We work for you, the property owner. We send monthly statements of all the rents received, and debits related to the property, and also provide year-end reports for your taxes. We collect rent, and will pay any bills from the rent such as water bill, garbage bill, homeowners fees if you so desire.  We aspire to make your job easier, and will also manage any repairs that your rental may need. We  charge an initial set-up fee of $100.00, and 8% of monthly rent.
